She would have been about 20. she was sent to japan with her two siblings to live with their grandparents in 1919 for a Japanese education. Perhaps this put her behind in school. She would later marry Matao Koga in 1949.

Shigeko Iwaihara Koga was born March 23, 1911. She was a member of the Alameda Buddhist Temple. In 1916, Mrs. Koga returned to Japan and enrolled in grade school.
